2 BHK Interior Design Cost in Pune (2026 Guide)

14 June 2026 · 7 min read

The Short Answer

A full 2 BHK interior in Pune in 2026 costs between ₹8 lakh and ₹40 lakh depending on the size of the flat, the quality tier, and how much work you're actually doing. The honest mid-range — where most of my clients land — is ₹14 lakh to ₹22 lakh for a 750–950 sq ft flat with modular kitchen, two wardrobes, living room furniture, bedroom furniture, and a proper design process behind it.

If someone quotes you ₹5 lakh for a complete 2 BHK, they're either doing almost nothing or cutting corners you'll regret. If someone says ₹50 lakh, they're pricing a luxury tier that most Pune buyers don't need.

This guide breaks down what's actually inside those numbers so you can budget intelligently before you start. You can also use our budget estimator to get a figure tailored to your flat.

What's Included in "Interior Design Cost"?

This is where most first-time clients get confused. When I say ₹16 lakh for a 2 BHK, that includes:

  • Modular kitchen (the biggest single line item — typically ₹2.5L to ₹6L)
  • Wardrobes in both bedrooms (₹80K to ₹1.8L each)
  • TV unit / living room joinery (₹80K to ₹2L)
  • False ceiling with lighting (₹1.5L to ₹3L)
  • Foyer / entrance console (₹40K to ₹1L)
  • Loose furniture — sofa, beds, side tables, dining table (₹1.5L to ₹5L)
  • Bathroom upgrades if needed — new tiles, accessories, lights (optional, ₹40K to ₹1.5L per bathroom)
  • Painting — wall texture or plain finish (₹60K to ₹1.5L)
  • Design fees — drawings, 3D renders, BOQ, project management (varies by studio)

Not everything above is mandatory. A lot of clients come to me with a furnished flat and just need the kitchen, wardrobes, and a false ceiling. That's a ₹7–10L scope. Some need the full thing from scratch.

The Biggest Cost Drivers

1. The Kitchen

A modular kitchen is typically 25–35% of your total interior budget. Shutter material (acrylic, PU, foil, membrane), the internal fittings (Hettich, Hafele, Blum hardware), and the countertop material all shift the price dramatically.

  • Acrylic shutters, basic fittings: ₹2.2L–₹2.8L for an L-shape
  • PU shutters, mid-range hardware: ₹3L–₹4.5L
  • Lacquered glass, Blum hardware: ₹5L–₹8L

I usually recommend mid-range for a working kitchen in a Pune apartment. The top-tier finishes look incredible in renders but take more maintenance than most families want.

2. Wardrobe Size and Sliding vs. Hinged

This surprises people. Sliding wardrobes cost more to make but take less wall space. If your bedroom is under 10×11 ft, sliding is often the smarter call even though it costs ₹20K more.

  • Hinged wardrobe (6 ft wide): ₹90K–₹1.4L
  • Sliding wardrobe (6 ft wide): ₹1.1L–₹1.8L

3. False Ceiling Complexity

A plain false ceiling across the living room and bedrooms is one price. Add coves, layered levels, feature recesses, or designer cornices and the labour and material cost jumps. Keep it flat and clean if you're budget-conscious.

4. Loose Furniture Quality

This is where I've seen clients go wrong in both directions — overspending on Pepperfry premium pieces that aren't built for Indian climate, or buying rock-bottom furniture that starts peeling in year two.

There's a solid middle ground in Pune: good local carpenter pieces for beds and tables, mid-range brand sofas (Hometown, Royaloak, Durian), and proper mattresses. Budget ₹1.5L–₹2.5L for this in a 2 BHK and you'll be fine for a decade.

What You Get at Each Budget Level

Under ₹10 Lakh

Minimal scope only. You can do a decent modular kitchen and one wardrobe, or two wardrobes and basic painting. Not a full interior — don't try to do everything at this budget, it will all feel thin.

₹10–₹15 Lakh

This is a real budget if you're strategic. You can do:

  • Mid-range modular kitchen
  • Two wardrobes
  • TV unit
  • Basic false ceiling in living room
  • Painting

You'll need to source loose furniture separately (₹1–1.5L more).

₹15–₹22 Lakh

The most common range for a 850 sq ft 2 BHK. Solid mid-range throughout. Good materials, reasonable design involvement, some personality. This is where most Aura Foundry clients land.

₹22–₹35 Lakh

Premium materials, custom joinery, premium kitchen hardware, designer lighting, better furniture. Noticeably different result.

₹35 Lakh+

Luxury tier — imported hardware, custom metalwork, premium stone countertops, curated furniture. A different category of project.

Pune-Specific Notes

In South and East Pune — Undri, Mohamadwadi, Hadapsar, NIBM — most flat sizes are 700–950 sq ft for a 2 BHK. In Baner, Aundh, and Koregaon Park, 2 BHKs tend to be larger (1,000–1,200 sq ft) and the budgets shift accordingly.

If you're in a new possession flat with standard builder-grade finishes (plain white walls, basic tiles, standard CP fittings), the interior scope is almost always bigger than people expect because you're starting from zero.

If you're in an older flat that's already furnished and you want a refresh, you can often keep a lot and just upgrade what's showing age. That brings the cost down significantly.

How Aura Foundry Approaches 2 BHK Projects

We don't have a fixed package price because the right scope depends on your flat, your brief, and your timeline. What we do is:

  • Review your floor plan and possession date
  • Give you a preliminary cost range before any commitment
  • Build a detailed BOQ so you know exactly what you're paying for
  • Deliver everything with photorealistic 3D renders before a single piece of wood is cut

Our services page has the package breakdown. Or get in touch and I'll give you a straight number for your specific flat.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Skipping the design phase. The biggest waste of money in Pune interiors is executing without proper drawings. Contractors who "do it all" without detailed plans routinely miss things that cost more to fix later.

Choosing the cheapest contractor quote. The gap between a ₹12L and ₹16L quote for the same scope is almost always in material quality and execution standards — not margin. Ask to see previous work.

Not factoring in GST. Most quotes from contractors are exclusive of GST. Add 18% to the final figure.

Rushing the material selection. Tiles and shutters take time to source. Clients who rush this almost always end up settling.
