Project Overview
Dubai Hills — Mapel 61
The brief was 'modern, but it has to feel like home' — which is actually the hardest thing to get right. Pure modern can easily become cold and uncomfortable. The answer here wasn't more furniture or more colour — it was about material warmth and light temperature. We introduced warm wood tones against cooler stone and plaster surfaces, creating contrast without conflict. The lighting was deliberate: warmer colour temperatures in the living and dining zones, cooler in the kitchen and bathrooms. The result is a space that reads as modern and resolved, but sits around you rather than confronting you. The client called it the first time a 'modern' home had ever felt cosy to them.
